Regular toenail cutting

Senior citizens often have difficulty in cutting their own toenails.

Poorly maintained toenails can lead to infections, pain, reduced mobility, an increased risk of falls, and a general reduction in the
quality of life.

We provide a professional toenail cutting service at the Forest Park Day Centre, which is partly funded by East Berkshire PCT.

Regular attention keeps the nails healthy and monitors any associated problems due to skin conditions or badly fitting shoes.

Our service

The clinic is normally open on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and caters for over 250 clients. Treatment is strictly by appointment, typically at 8 weekly intervals. The current charge is £10 per session.

If necessary, transport to and from home can be arranged. This is provided by our volunteers using their own private cars and is subject to an additional charge of £4 to £6 to cover expenses.

Anyone over the age of 65, who lives within Bracknell Forest and has difficulty maintaining their own toenails is eligible, provided they are referred by their GP and do not have diabetis or take anti-coagulants.

Please talk to your GP or contact us directly on 01344 422048 for further details and a referral form.
