Guide our work

Our work is led by committees as below. To join in email the chairman.

Become a Member

People who want to guide our work are welcome to be members.

Members meet at the AGM and three other General Meetings per year to monitor, guide and/or materially assist the aims; and they elect trustees to manage the administration of the charity. (See minutes)

Become a Trustee

Trustees take full responsibility for the affairs of the charity. We currently have six and need up to four more. It involves being constantly in touch by phone and email, meeting up six to eight times per year and taking on aspects of the management work.

Join a committee

Certain projects or aspects of the management are delegated to a small group of trustees who meet up to agree and undertake the work. If you cannot commit to be a trustee but do have particular skills or knowledge to help us, can you help any of these committees?

Volunteer your time

If you can spare time, on a regular or occasional basis, whatever your abilities our needs are so diverse that we will appreciate any help you can give. Travel and other expenses can be paid.

On a regular weekday

For Day Care we need two or more people per day to socialise with the elderly members and help with their refreshments and activities.

In the office we need someone to answer the phone and take bookings or look things up, search the internet and make phone calls to answer elderly callers' issues. Office work can also include anything you are good at such as accounting, organising events, compiling leaflets or filling envelopes.

Occasionally

Drivers with their own cars are needed to take old people for hospital appointments.

Home help. Old people need help with shopping, gardening and small chores.

Friends are wanted to man stalls, organise raffles, make collections, act as escorts, etc.

Support our funding

Our activities - especially to provide affordable and high quality Day Care - are in constant need of volunteers and funds. Please help us to care for the elderly.
